KENYA: An Angry Bien Responds to Blogger's 'Polycarp is a Useless Band Member' Sentiments

“…When he is not used as an actor you will be hard pressed to find any significant contribution to the groups music he makes. Savara is obviously the bigger influence on the music production while a guitarist can always be found at a moment’s asking. So Polycarp Otieno is just a guy who was at the right place at the right time.”

Those were the sentiments aired by a blogger this week about Sauti Sol band member Polycarp Otieno a.k.a Fancy Fingers that sparked anger and criticism across social media.

But it was not only he that was on the receiving end of the blogger’s criticisms, in fact there were many more some would say uncalled for comments about band members of other groups in cluding the Kansoul’s Kid Kora, Elani’s Brian Chweya, H_Art the Band’s Kenneth Muya and P-Unit’s Boneye.

And while the victims themselves did not seem to be bothered by the comments enough to react to the bloggers comments, Sauti Sol’s lead band member could not hold off his anger penning a flurry of angry words in response to the article.

“You stupid journalist. You should research before you write these articles. Then again I forget blogs like these only hire the bottom of the pyramid of journalists to write. Polycarp is the SautiSol sound. His guitar is our signature. Second Polycarp is the producer of many if not most of the tracks in the SautiSol album LIVE & DIE IN AFRIKA. Tracks like Nerea, Kuliko Jana and unconditionally Bae are Polycarp productions.
