KENYA: From Low Self Esteem to Becoming a Sex Symbol, Why Physical Fitness is Important For This Sauti Sol Member

A year ago Sauti Sol set a new precedent for men all over Kenya in their award winning hit music video, Nishike.

With their loaded guns (a.k.a the biceps) and of course the oiled up six packs, the ladies were mesmerized and you know your girlfriend was definitely smitten by these boys.

And the Kenyan men were angry now since the precedent for being a sexy man changed from a packed wallet to a six pack on the abdomen.

Even some of the Sauti Sol members seem to have back slid as their six packs faded over time, especially Bien’s. It seems Chiki is doing a great job in the kitchen. I kid.

But for one Sauti Sol member, Savara Mudigi, his physical fitness has now become a way of life and his six pack ever present, and it always seems to be oiled up too.

Recently he shared his reason for always staying fit as a fiddle and you might be surprised it’s not exactly for the ladies.

‘I remember the first time I saw @50cent in his #InDaClub video dangling upside down. Then and then I knew I had to push myself and be like him. I was so chubby and my self-esteem was really low. I couldn't afford any gym's fee so I had to start from home (Daily Push Ups and Sit Ups) to shed off the weight. Glory to God when my music started paying off I got myself a professional instructor and started achieving the desired results in months. I was so tempted to stop, relax and take it easy on myself now that I was popular with the ladies and just hit the gym every once in a while but the little voice in my head urged to keep going. This is now a daily routine. My lifestyle! My sanctuary! I can't do without it!!! I don't do this for the music videos, showbiz or Instagram but as a way to channel my pain, frustrations in order to find inner peace.'
