Calif Records on a revival path this year

Calif Records just might be on a revival path this year as it plans to expand across the borders into neighboring Tanzania and work with some of the finest Bongo stars.

According to reports Calif Records boss, Clement Rapudo, popularly known as Clemmo is said to have recently travelled to Tanzania in a bid to seal deals with some of the biggest artists across the border.

“We are looking at working with Diamond to begin with, which is why Clemmo had to go to Dar last week,” said Calif’s studio manager Arton during an interview with Nairobi News.

Calif records which is regarded by many as one of the pioneer recording studios in Kenya having brought to the limelight some of the biggest names in Kenyan music including Nonini, Jua Cali, Jimwat and a host of other big names, has been struggling for the past few years to bring in new talent, with some of its artists relocating to new labels; however, if Calif manage to work with Diamond in the near future it could prove to be the turning point for Clemmo and his group.

Calif Records and Grandpa Records last month signed a deal to produce and release music in collaboration with each other.
