UGANDA: Kenzo Promises to Open a Musical School

Ugandan Artist Edirisa Musuuza aka Eddy Kenzo has vowed to use the fame and the wealth he has acquired in his music career to benefit the talented but disadvantaged children.

Kenzo started putting into practice this program last Friday when he offered to perform free of charge at a concert organized by Voices without Borders and children of Peace Uganda at French School Kampala.

Voices without Borders are looking after children especially those from Northern Uganda who were affected by the LRA war. Among the tools which is used to rehabilitate them is music which prompted the proprietors to engage Eddy Kenzo who is a role model to many of the kids.

In address the press towards the end of last week Kenzo revealed that he is going to start up Eddy Kenzo foundation which he will use to change people’s lives using his life experience in both music and soccer from the time he was a street boy up to now as an international star.

 "I became an orphan at an early age and started working at the age of 5 years by selling drinks in the taxi park,” he said.

Kenzo says that his childhood experience taught him a lot and its from what he pass through that makes him understand how people suffer

“Everything am offering is a blessing,am not rich but God gave me a helping hand. I may not be educated but I have a Masters degree  in experience,” Kenzo stated.

He added that on top of that he is going to set up a musical school to start developing children’s talents at a tender age to create more professional musicians in the future.

Her Excellency Stephanie Rivoal the French Ambassador to Uganda applauded Kenzo for the love and spirit of helping the needy he exhibited when he was approached to perform at the Voices without Border concert.

The Ambassador says that this followed the fact that many children admire Kenzo for his break through.

She adds that although they had asked Kenzo to perform for this children at least one song he offered six but they had challenges in hiring professional music equipment but he provided his own at free of charge.
