AFRICA: New Music Round Up - Here Are The Top EPs And Albums On Mdundo Right Now

 

Ranging from East Africa to West Africa, Mdundo highlights the top albums and EPs now trending in 2018 so far.

Dela’s 'Public Demand' is a 15 track album that's among the hottest releases on Mdundo right now. The Kenyan vocal prowess dropped her sophomore album a week ago and it’s no doubt that it’s really doing well. Top Kenyan artists Timmy T-dat, H_Art The Band, Gilad, Kagwe Mungai and Fena Gitu were featured on the album and the songs are produced by both local and international producers. The album entails music based on themes of love, pain and socio-political issues.

US-based Kenyan singer, Mumbi hasn’t been left behind too with her debut 'For The Culture' (FTC) EP and the feedback from her fans is impressive.

“The EP has five tracks I had to pick them out of 30. They’re all different to showcase my versatility as well as they’re all good vibes. first. I wrote most of the songs on the EP at a time in my life where I had taken some time off to regroup,” Mumbi says.

From West Africa is Nigeria’s fast rising artist, Amota, who just released his debut EP too 'The Shadow EP' with great hits featuring Kenya’s Kidis and Bamzigi.

"THE SHADOW EP, is one of my great achievements and it's a combination of sounds across Africa that promote the culture of our dear continent." said Amota.

Representing Ghana is Quata Budukusu’s ‘Quantum Riddim EP’ which comprises of 13 tracks. Quata is regarded as the fastest rapper in Ghana, the inventor of tongue twisting in Twi, super accomplished songwriter and the most versatile artist who does every genre of music perfectly. Quata’s Quantum Riddim album brings out his dancehall prowess since he is a multi talented artist.

“The songs in my EP include 'Jah Give I Strength', 'Be Free', 'Motivate Yourself'. ‘I Don’t Need a Hero’, ‘Sweetest Melody’, 'Stars', Amazing,’ “Do Mi – Love Me’, among others. All the songs in the ‘Quantum EP’ are recorded in one riddim” Quata says.
