NIGERIA: Nigerian Artist, Seyi Shay Tells Women Off in an Interview About Women Empowerment

The Yolo Yolo singer, during her recent visit to Ghana called out her fellow female artists and said, “Women need to get over their egos” during her interview with Ghanaian entrepreneur and content creator, Yaa Somuah for her online women empowerment show dubbed ‘Trendsetters’.

It is no secret that Seyi Shay has had her fair share of controversies in the music industry. In 2016, Wizkid called Seyi a liar on twitter and advised her to "shut up" after she claimed on a Jamaican TV show that Wizkid, not Drake, owns the hit song One Dance.

In her latest unhinged rant, Seyi didn’t hide what she really thinks of her fellow female artists:

“I think women need to get over whatever ego it is they think they have because it is so irritating, all my female friends are cool.... We just do what we want to do, we party together, we travel together, we cook for each other, we support each other, we love each other and we edify each other. My female friends. I don't know what is going on with most of the females out there that just want to be so much in the public eye and don't want anybody else to shine. In the music industry, I feel like more females need to do collaborations, they need to get over their egos and they need to just understand that not everybody wants you to be successful, so they are going to naturally say rubbish to you about another to cause friction so that both of you can fall.”

She also talked in detail about her late mother.
