Angélique Kidjo Share a Special Moment With Lupita Nyong’o

Three-time Grammy winner Angélique Kidjo over the weekend returned to Carnegie Hall with an all-star band and some very special guests for the debut performance of her reimagined take on the Talking Heads’ classic 1980 album, Remain in Light.

Kidjo took unforgettable songs such as Crosseyed and Painless, Once in a Lifetime, and Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On), reinterpreting them with electrifying rhythms, African guitars, and layered backing vocals.

The New York band’s fourth album was a career peak, and used musical influences and rhythms from West Africa to forge a vibrant new direction for rock.

Gracing the event was Kenyan Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o, who shared a pic of the two on her Instagram, with the caption, “Angelique Kidjo, you are in the slayage business! Amazing performance at #CarnegieHall.”
