KENYA: Sauti Sol and Vanessa Mdee Set to Headline the Gidi Culture Festival (15th April 2017) in Lagos, Nigeria

This Easter Saturday (15th April 2017) – all roads lead to Nigeria as East Africa’s finest: Vanessa Mdee and Sauti Sol headline at the fourth edition of The Gidi Culture Festival (GIDI FEST) at Eko Atlantic, Victoria Island in Lagos, Nigeria from 12.00 p.m.
Taking their renowned world-class performances to GIDI FEST, MTV award winners (Best Group in Africa) Sauti Sol will be making their debut at GIDI FEST with Tanzanian mega star Vanessa Mdee returning for a second time.
Ahead of their anticipated performances, Chimano of Sauti Sol says, “We are excited to be playing at GIDI FEST – what will also be our debut major performance in Nigeria! So we’re calling all our super fans to come enjoy the best live music in Africa and also get a taste of the best of Kenyan culture while at it.” Vee Money says, “Last time was amazing and I am glad that this time my brothers Sauti Sol are joining me alongside so many other multi-talented artistes put together by GIDI FEST. It’s gonna be crazy as I’ve got so much new content to share at the festival.”
Co-founder of GIDI FEST Chin Okeke confirmed that Kenya Airways has this year joined GIDI FEST’s partners, in the bid to additionally promote cultural pride and travel for Africans to the festival. Chin is also elated to have East African music well represented at the festival this year. He says, “GIDI FEST 2017 will be an explosion of African music and all genres imaginable on one platform for the culture. For the first time, we will also be producing exclusive content for GIDI FEST’s debut film set to launch later this year,” revealing, “It’s GIDI FEST’s intention to transport our stage across Africa to the world.”
Legendary American Grammy-award winning artiste Diplo of Major Lazer will also be lighting up the GIDI FEST stage alongside several other major acts including Davido, Seyi Shay, Reekado Banks, Simi, DJ Obi and DJ Neptune. The music festival is a platform promoting African entertainment, music and cultural diplomacy. Set to unite the best of African music and entertainment with global talent, this edition of GIDI FEST promises to bigger and better!
On top of world-class music performances, GIDI FEST will also have a selection of yummy food and drinks, fitness and fun games such as beach volleyball and soccer, art exhibitions and live sketching. The festival started as a yearly event that aimed to promote urban youth culture and meet the demand for live, affordable and accessible entertainment in Nigeria. Today, GIDI FEST is the biggest music festival in West Africa and at par with some of the most important events of this decade.
