Speaking on the expectations of his soon to be out EP “The First Wave”, Ycee says he gave the EP that title because it’s his first project and also because his sound has been described by many as 'wavy'.

The Tinny Entertainment rapper attributed the Sony Entertainment Africa distribution and marketing deal that was wrapped up in October 2016 as part reason the EP took quite a while to get a release date. He also pointed out that he had to put in his best foot on the project to ensure it turns out great, not taking it for granted even though it’s an EP and not an album.

Speaking on the fan base whom the EP is expected to cater to, Ycee says he made an effort to showcase diversity on the project and as such there is something for every music lover on “ The First Wave”.

“There is something for everyone on the EP”, the talented rapper says about the project, describing it as one that shows diversity as it cuts across a variety of sounds.

The ‘Omo Alhaji’ talks about the good chemistry working with the featured artists including Falz, Kly, Calibrii, Maleek Berry, Seyi Shay, Reekado Banks and the producers, Adey, Maleek Berry, Two Seven, Karma among others, though citing Adey the 'Link up' producer as a tough one to deal with but in a good way.

He tells Pulse Music that ‘Juice’ featuring Maleek Berry and produced by Adey happens to be the one he enjoyed making the most particularly because he had like three different versions of the song, and it was quite interesting making a choice to go with one over the other two.

He quoted his boss 'Tinny' as saying “No one song is finished until you release it”, which was him making reference to a song needing not be rushed, as there's always room for enhancement of the sound one way or the other to perfect its output.

On his experience so far at Sony Music Entertainment Africa, Ycee says he can’t be quick to say much about the company, since he only has just a single ‘Link up’ released under their management, but time will tell a couple of months after the EP is out to assess them, even as he acknowledged their brand penetration judging from history.

Ycee also hints that an album may be out later this year as well, as he’s already working towards that, and he has his eyes on working with more talented acts in the UK and US, speaking of international collaborations outside Africa.
